Who’s Hiring?, Who’s building?
I think the AIA should use this wonderful oportunity with Ren Miller and the AIA-NJ PR and Architecture (formerly Meet the Press)to discuss the use of the title Architect in his magazine. We have all worked so hard to be licensed professionals and to see articles and advertisements in publications that dismiss this by saying such things as “self taught architect” or “contractor with a background in architecture” or listing the name of a “designer” under the title architect lessons their credibility as a legitamate publication. The last such event I attended regarding media a couple of years back went over the use of the term architect and architecture on business cards, letter head and marketing materials saying that the name of a professional and their license number must accomany the words Architect, architectural and architecture. I rarely see this in adds or articles that are published. This seems like a great opportunity to let the editor know the laws regarding this if he is not already aware. Respectfully submitted, M. R S Knapp / Napco (www.napconet.com)has been a partner and resource to the Architecture community for 65 years. The blog is a great idea as it helps us in the loop. Technology has impacted Architecture and Reprographics equally in the past 10 years and we both need to stay ahead of the curve.

I have been a proponent of repealing the “single fsmily exemption” since I was licensed in 1992 This piece of
legislation has and is a loop hole for builders and owners
to avoid using a licensed Architect.It is antiquated and
must go!!
HAS THERE BEEN ANY MOVEMENT OR UPDATE ON THE TASK FORCE LOOKING INTO BUILDING CODES DUE TO THE RECENT FIRE IN NORTH JERSEY.
